15/09/07 - Gus McKechnie streetrows the 60 miles round the Isle of Wight in his battle against haemachromatosis.
Gus McKechnie completed the 90km circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight on the Streetrower to raise money for a number of charities. Gus suffers
from haemachromatosis a serious genetic illness that resulted in the loss
of his brother. Physical exercise is the only treatment for preventing further
onset of the disease, and with incredible determination Gus is undertaking a
number of endurance challenges in a bid to raise funds for relevant charities. Gus' progress on the clockwise route starting and finishing in Cowes
was follwed on his website bombayduck.org using a satellite tracker lent by sailing
legend Ellen McArthur and took just over twelve hours finishing in darkness at 8pm.
Photos and video clips have been posted in the multimedia section of the website.
07/07/07 - Reporting back - London to Henley charity streetrowing
After five hours of streetrowing into an unrelenting 20mph head wind
along the busy A4 trunk road, Simon was glad to reach Henley.
The target to raise £10,000 for charities is that bit closer and all
the support was much appreciated. Other than the shimano cleat
on his cycling shoe coming loose there were no technical problems.
Please continue to donate online. See below for photos and video of the row.
To coincide with the Tour de France departure from London and Henley Royal
Regatta, Simon Tarrant will be streetrowing the distance of over 40 miles between
central London and Henley-on-Thames. This Streetrowing challenge is in aid of
the British Paralympic Association,
CHASE Hospice Care for Children,
Sportability and the
Steve Redgrave Trust. The BPA
support adaptive rowing, paralympic cycling and other sports for people with disabilities.
Please sponsor Simon online. Our aim is to make
streetrowing accessible to all regardless of physical condition.

The Streetrower Blade competed against a strong field of high speed recumbent bikes and trikes at
Castle Combe motor racing circuit in Wiltshire as part of the British Human Power race series.
The race was a 2 hour endurance test for the Streetrower which completed 16 laps of the 3km circuit.
The Blade performed as hoped with no technical issues - just two hours of full-on race action and serious physical effort. Full results...
03/06/07 - New Streetrower Blade breaks 4 minute barrier for 2000m
Trials of the newly developed Streetrower Blade yielded a
significant improvement on early results with previous models - 3 minutes 57 seconds for the Olympic rowing distance. Competitors racing flat
out in the finals of the Metropolitan Regatta at Eton College's Dorney Lake were left for dead as the Blade cruised past
eights and quadruple sculls. While the Blade comes with 20" wheels as standard,
the higher gearing of a 26" rear wheel gives the Blade an edge on a straight 2000m course. Indoor Rowing World Champion Graham Benton is
waiting in the wings to push the Blade to its limit using his 6'8" frame and pedigree on the Concept 2. The Blade is available to Streetrower customers from £999 inc.
VAT and supersedes the Streetrower Sport - more photos and details will be posted on the website in the near future.

07/01/07 - Successful speed trials at World Champs venue
The Streetrower underwent its first speed trials at Eton College's Dorney
Lake - the venue for the 2006 World Rowing Championships. The Streetrower performed well under windy and slightly wet conditions,
setting a benchmark for the 2km distance of 6 minutes 10 seconds. The cross wind was neither a help nor hindrance but
Simon, who carried out the trial, is confident that the 6 minute mark will be broken in the near future. A time for 250m was also recorded
- 42 seconds, which equates to about 15 mph or the speed of a national standard eight man crew.
See the video clips of the trial in the mulitmedia section.
01/01/07 - The Streetrower, available to order online from £749 (inc. VAT and UK delivery).
Orders for Streetrowers started coming in within two days of launching the website. Reserve your place in the waiting
list by e-mailing Team Streetrower.
