The technique used by world class oarsmen and women has been developed to achieve maximum boat speed
over the course of a race. Important features of effective technique include a long stroke delivered smoothly
by an athlete with strong upright body positions using leverage efficiently and deploying muscle groups
in an appropriate sequence - legs and back before arms.
The Streetrower allows you to employ this same technique without compromise. The geometry and drive system of the
Streetrower enables you to achieve the same body positions and use the muscle groups in the same sequence - the legs
can push down at the start of the stroke and the handle pulled through with the back and arms at the finish. See the video clips for a demonstration of Streetrowing technique.
Unlike in a boat where the seat slides and the feet are fixed, the seat of the Streetrower is fixed and
the feet slide so that your centre of gravity
moves less relative to the vehicle, and propulsion is more efficient.
Importantly, the desired geometry and rowing technique is preserved. The height
from which you pull the handle can be adjusted in the same way that the 'rigger gate'
height is adjusted on a boat, and the seat height is also adjustable, equivalent to adjusting the height
of your feet in a boat.
This scope for adjustment ensures that as a competitive rower you can employ the same technique and stroke
profile that will win you races on the water.
